Staff Project: PetiteKnit Olga Jacket in Sandnes Garn Peer Gynt
PetiteKnit patterns are still proving to be top of the pops when it comes to Black Sheep staff. A day doesn't go by when you can find more than one PetiteKnit pattern in the top 20 patterns on Ravelry. If this is what is trending world wide with knitting patterns, then it is no coincidence that we also love to knit a PetiteKnit pattern or two.
Carmen has been trying out one of the Sandnes Garn yarns for her latest jacket. A beautiful soft blend of 100% Norwegian wool.
Your name: Carmen
Pattern: Olga Jacket by PetiteKnit
Yarn: Sandnes Garn Peer Gynt
Shade number / name: 2511 Almond and 9581 Pine
What size did you make? Medium
How did you find the pattern? Did you make any adjustments?
Interesting in a good way. In particular I like the way it is constructed.
Any new techniques used?
Italian bind off. I worked out that it needs about 3x the length of the cast off. It’s not that easy to join yarn in without it showing. It is better to have some yarn left over at the end of the Italian bind off than falling short.

Have you used this yarn before? How did you find it?
No, I have never used it before, but I really like the quality and texture of this yarn. It is nice to work with.

Would you recommend the pattern to someone else? Any advice for someone else making it?
Yes, the pattern is well written, don’t get overwhelmed with the instructions and working top down. They are there to help you. Just follow them step by step and you will enjoy knitting the jacket.
Describe the fit of your finished garment
The cardigan fits really well. I’m so pleased with how it turned out.

How do you plan to wear your new garment? How will you style it?
Mostly with jeans. I chose the jacket over the Olga jumper as I prefer being able to take it off easily if I feel too warm. The jacket option gives this flexibility.
