Staff Project: Elva Tee in Sandnes Garn Line

Black Sheep Carmen is back with a new addition to her yarny summer wardrobe. We always say it but, Carmen really is the fastest knitter we know. Determined to get this one on the needles, off the needles, on display in the shop and ready to be worn over summer. Carmen did not hang around when making this new knitted top. She selected her shade of Sandnes Garn Line as soon as it arrived in store, before pairing it with the Elva Tee pattern. The Elva Tee is a top down design knitted in the round.

Let's see what Carmen has to say about her recently finished hand knit top.

Name: Carmen
Size: Medium

Which did you choose first, the pattern or yarn?

It was the pattern that caught my eye, I liked the look of the design. A simple short sleeve style that I could easily wear for work when I am picking and packing orders in the summer months.

How did you find the yarn to knit with?

Sandnes Garn Line is not a yarn I have used before. It has such a nice texture and softness to it. The yarn is 53% cotton, 33% viscose and 14% linen. Knitting the Elva Tee was a good opportunity to try a new yarn. It knits up really soft with a lovely drape. I would definitely use it again.

How did you find the pattern? Did you make any adjustments?

The pattern is knitted top down with shaping for the raglan sleeves. I didn't make any changes just followed the pattern. It was quite a quick knit. I would say that compared to a PetiteKnit pattern the Sandnes Garn pattern is not as detailed. With a PetiteKnit pattern every step is explained in depth. It was overall a good pattern and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others. In fact I would knit it again myself.
What do you plan to make next?
I am currently knitting a second Cloud Tee, a cardigan that is a test knit and a top in Stylecraft Naturals Bamboo and Cotton DK. When these are all finished I have my eye on a few of the Sandnes Garn free patterns knitted in Sandnes Garn Line again. I would like to knit something in another colour, perhaps Rustic Rose or Dusty Light Green? The two tops I like are Snowbell and Grainfield.
