Sara's Monthly Project Update - April 2022

Zoom Jacket in Rowan Big Wool

Yey, I’ve finished my Zoom Jacket (designed by Martin Storey and in the Easy Style Book) in Rowan Big Wool. I love Big Wool, it is super squishy and bouncy and knits up so quickly. However I do struggle to get any speed up when knitting such a chunky yarn!

I finished the jacket over the weekend and I have actually wet blocked it and put it on blocking mats, I am slightly worried that it has stretched a bit - fingers crossed we will be OK.

Sirdar Hoodstock Cardigan

I am making this as part of our latest make-along, a Festival Along using a new yarn from Sirdar, Stories DK. It’s a really lovely yarn to crochet, and knit with and the pattern collection is superb.

The Hoodstock is super bright and colourful and the pattern is really easy to follow, there are only two rows to it so it is easy to memorise. I still have the sleeves to do but so far there has not even been any shaping, such an easy make!

This make along has been really popular and it’s easy to see why! Take a look at the pattern collection. Sara has been using her KnitPro Doctor bag to keep her project in.

Rico Embroidered Tablecloth

My first attempt at ‘proper’ embroidery and I'm enjoying it a lot. It’s a great kit that has everything in it except a hoop. The silks are really soft, beautiful colours and the instructions are really easy to follow.

Rico Embroidery Tablecloth

You split the silks into two before you use them and the patterns tells you what colours to use where. This kit only uses two stitches, satin stitch and stem stitch. The tablecloth is only quite small so this is a perfect starter kit for me. Who knows what I’ll make next!

Rowan ‘Built World’ Knit Along

I am a sucker for a Rowan KAL, they have done lots over the years  and I have joined in with most of them. 'A Built World' is designed by Georgia Farrell and takes inspiration from buildings around the world. There are options to make a blanket in different sizes or a cushion, as I don’t want to make too much of a commitment. I am making a cushion. I have started by making just one each of each pattern and I will make more at the end when I have favourites!

I have done three weeks so far so four more to go!

This make is a secret at the moment but I do love this yarn! Watch this space!
