Rhythmic Knit Along from Rowan

Way back in March I was sent details of a new Rowan knit-along and I fell in love. I was so excited. I haven’t joined a blanket MAL for such a long time but the stunning Rhythmic KAL had my name all over it!

Designed by Chloe Thurlow from the Rowan design team the ‘Rhythmic Knit Along’ is inspired by her love of music. In Chloe’s own words ‘When I listen to music I visualise patterns and shapes that align with different genres, translating these ideas into sketches’.

The first pattern is released on the Rowan website on Monday 30th June, with a weekly pattern until 18th August. As well as the pattern Rowan will also be hosting Virtual meet ups through their Rowan Connect site.

The first four weeks concentrate on stranded colourwork and then we will move onto Intarsia. Creating a masterpiece as we go.

There are two colourways available - a muted ‘Melody’ and brighter ‘Symphony’ and you can make either a cushion or a blanket. The blanket pack contains 11 balls of Rowan Pure Wool Superwash Worsted and the cushion kit contains 5 balls. If you haven’t used Pure Wool Worsted before you are in for a real treat. This award winning worsted weight yarn has excellent stitch definition and a luxurious soft handle. I have used it a lot and it lasts and lasts.

The patterns for this KAL are all FREE to download and use so it is also a great stash buster or substitute Pure Wool Worsted for a more economical aran weight yarn such as James C Brett Croftland Aran, plus Croftland has very similar colours to those used in this blanket.

The yarn requirements for alternative yarns are as follows:

Colours        Metres Required
A                   600
B                   200
C                   400
D                   400
E                    200
F                    200
G                   200

I’d love you to join me on the make-along journey. I will be posting weekly progress updates and also hosting three ‘Rhythmic’ Knit and Natters in the Craft Barn throughout the eight weeks. Details to follow.
