Pantone Colour of the Year 2020 - Making Colour Combinations with classic blue!

Classic Blue.....that's the Pantone colour of the year for 2020. A strong shade of blue that isn't navy blue or french navy, it is very much a 'Classic Blue'. This will go with so many others colours, creating fun colour combinations to play with. Que the hunt in the shop, with basket in hand for yarn that is a close match to Classic Blue and colours that go to make a selection of complimentary colour palettes.

For the past few years we have enjoyed finding out the Pantone Colour of the Year and putting together colour combinations. Take a look at last year's variations with 'Living Coral' in our 2019 post. The ones we have created for Classic Blue are just the tip of the iceberg really. We could have continued to play with yarn all day and make many more harmonious colour stories.
Having a starting point of one colour is a great way to begin making a colour palette. Sometimes you might want to match your next crochet blanket with your interior decor. Building up your colour palette with a strong central colour can spark all sorts of new ideas. The challenge of starting with the shade Classic Blue was a pleasant task to undertake. Bright, neon, pastel, earthy, neutral, gradient - all of these hues can in some way interact with this elegant blue. It is just a matter of playing around with the colour combinations to come up with a winning palette.

On the Pantone website they describe 'Classic Blue' as -

"Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era."
