Mocha Mousse Yarn Inspiration - Taking a look at Pantone Colour of the Year 2025

Every year Pantone shares their ‘colour of the year’ for the year ahead. They announce it at the end of the previous year online. It is a prediction of the colour trend we will see in design over the coming year, that could be home decor, fashion or even something like car colour! Being surrounded by all of the colours every day in a yarn shop we are very lucky to be spoilt for choice when it comes to colour. We wanted to highlight the Pantone colour of the year in yarn form, selecting shades from across all of the yarns we stock.

Mocha Mousse

Pantone colour of the year 2025 is Mocha Mousse. Described by Pantone as - “a warming, brown hue imbued with richness. It nurtures us with its suggestion of the delectable qualities of chocolate and coffee, answering our desire for comfort.”

Mocha Mousse Pantone Colour of the year 2025

Equipped with this cosy description and mocha mousse as the inspiration off into the shop we went. Gathering as many shades of yarn that went under this umbrella of colour. Including different texture, variegated and even a mini ball of Ricorumi. Obviously we do stock many more colours that fit in the mocha mousse realm, there are only so many balls of yarn you can scoop in your arms after all. Did you know you can search yarns by colour? Here are our findings -

The great thing about shades of brown, or should we say mocha mousse, is that they are great base colours for many other shades to compliment. It may not be a colour that you would wear as a jumper or cardigan but it could work for you as an accessory. Perhaps a cowl, for example, or a hat.

This brings us to a brand new pattern for our ‘TV Makes’ section, designed by our in house Rowan expert Sarah Daly. A project that is easy enough to knit whilst watching your favourite show. The ‘Chocolat Cowl’ is named after the 2000 film Chocolat starring Johnny Depp. It takes just one ball of Mode at Rowan Chunky Wool and it can be knitted in the round or flat. Maybe this could be your nod to the mocha mousse colour trend in 2025?
