A closer look at Stylecraft Grace Aran - the yarn that gave me my mojo back!
In our latest newsletter I have written about how Stylecraft Grace Aran has given me my knitting and crochet mojo back. I love it so much I thought it was worthy of its own blog post! Honestly, it’s one of those yarns that makes you just want to sit down with a cup of tea and never stop knitting.

Grace Aran is an aran weight yarn that blends acrylic, wool and mohair to create a light and drapey yarn that whips up into jumpers, cardigans, or shawls in no time. It feels elegant and floaty, yet cosy enough to snuggle into, plus it has a natural fibre feel to it.
Stylecraft always make their yarns practical too and Grace Aran is no exception, it is machine washable at 30 degrees so if, like me, you are a mucky pup don’t panic!
There are sixteen shades of Grace Aran and the palette is stunning. Whether you’re into soft neutrals like Old Rose and Oyster, bold pops like Hibiscus and Marmalade, or rich deeper tones like Plum and Indigo, there’s something for every mood — and every project. Plus all the shades seem to blend together effortlessly which is obvious when you look at the design collection.
The pattern collection is comprehensive and features designs for both knit & crochet. The first time I used it was for a tank top pattern number 10087, blending a strand of Impressions Aran & Grace Aran and knitted on 8mm needles. This was such a quick make and one which I wear a lot.
The cardigan pattern 10091 is a classic design and we have it on display in the Craft Barn currently. Whenever I have worn it for a video I get so many comments! If you want a longer line jacket style check out pattern 9926 - this has been on my to do list for ages but i have never actually cast it on and i’m not sure why. It is knitted in soft peaches and pinks but I’d like it in beautiful brights!
I had pattern 9927, a stripey sloppy Joe knitted for me and it has become a weekend essential, perfect with jeans and trainers and a great way to use up any odd balls of Aran too.
My current Grace obsession is another striped jumper and it has given me back my knitting mojo, pattern number 10145. I started it ages ago and put it away quite quickly - goodness knows why! Since I picked it up again it has kept me going over a tough couple of weeks. The colours cheer me up and the stripes are addictive. I think it is fair to say I LOVE Grace Aran, a classic yarn with incredible pattern support.
