Finished for Friday #finishedforfriday

Earlier in lockdown we started using a hashtag #finishedforfriday on social media. A fun way for everyone to share in the jubilation of finishing a project. If no one else in your household understands that feeling when you sew in the last ends or cast off the last stitch, then we are all here for one another. Even the cat probably looks at you quizzically when you shriek with joy at finishing your latest project. Sometimes it just has to be done.
At a time when we can’t be with fellow crafters, at a knitting group or meeting up for a coffee for a knit / crochet chat. It was a nice way to share our celebrations virtually. To give each other encouragement and the boost you may often need to finish something before starting something new or it becoming a forever WIP (work in progress).

Originally we put the challenge up on our Facebook and Instagram pages on a Friday morning. Challenging everyone to comment and put forward the project that they planned to have ‘finished for Friday’, that being, the following Friday. One whole week to get a wriggle on and get it completed. We then asked for people to share their accomplishments with the hashtag #finishedforfriday.

Since then many of our followers have shared photos on Instagram and our Black Sheep Wools Facebook make along group. Either when they have #finishedforfriday or when they are sharing a photo of something that they plan to finish.

Here are a few of the recent #finishedforfriday makes we stumbled across.

Beverley shared this photo on our Facebook Make Along group. A shawl knitted in Stylecraft Batik Elements DK - Bismuth pattern 9409.

Su sent a photo of the knitted gloves she made in Scheepjes Metropolis. They are Luna Lovegood gloves from Harry Potter Knitting Magic book.

Black Sheep Sara's Granny Paperweight Cowl. Sara decided to make a cowl instead from Ericka Eckles pattern on Ravelry. Crocheted in Scheepjes Metropolis.

Maxine had the satisfying task of sewing in the last ends of her Nature's Walk blanket.

Maria knitted a lace stitch sweater in Sirdar Toscana DK

Susan shared a photo on our make along group of her ZickZack scarf. Knitted in Stylecraft Head Over Heels Woldgate and West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply - Seascape.
