Bessie Cowl Make Along

Bessie Cowl Make Along by Lisa Richardson

Our first Make Along of 2023, the Bessie Cowl, is the perfect way to keep toasty . A beautiful, richly toned cowl in 4 stunning colour ways of Rowan Felted Tweed or Alpaca Soft Dk. Designed by Rowan’s own Head of Design Lisa Richardson this cowl is a fabulous way to improve your skills.

We will use a chart, knit in the round and try two handed colour work aided by fabulous technique videos from Juliet Bernard. This is a surprisingly simple and perfect first, Fair Isle project. If you’ve always wanted to try colour work, then this is a great way to dip you toe in. There will lots of help, advice and hints and tips in our Make Along Group, we’d love you to join us.

The pattern is completely free to download and we have four fabulous kits to choose from. Three in my favourite, Rowan Felted Tweed at £39.95 each and one in super squishy Alpaca Soft Dk for just £40.99. However this is also the perfect project to stash dive, using five separate colours.

The Bessie cowl will be our Black Sheep Wools Make Along project for the end of January. Sara will be casting on her Bessie Cowl on 25th January at 7pm over on our Facebook page

Suitable for adventurous beginners and beyond. Please note that the colour work is charted and there is no written version available. However we do have an enlarged chart for you to download and a video explaining how to read a chart for in-the-round- knitting.

We're also sharing Juliet's Continental Knitting - you don't need to use this technique for the project, but it's a great opportunity to try and it is very useful for colour work!
