Sara's Project Update - August 2026

As always I have quite a few things on the go at the moment. There’s something very satisfying about being able to pick up a different project depending on my mood.

Bury Tank by Mode at Rowan in Softest Alpaca

Do you remember the navy Bury Tank Top that I wore and wore and then shrank by accidentally giving it a machine wash? Well here is its replacement - another Bury Tank Top but this time in the stunning shade Linen in Softest Alpaca.

 If you haven’t used Mode at Rowan Softest Alpaca then you really are missing a treat. This is one of those yarns that you pick up and immediately want to squish. It’s made from 70% alpaca, 7% wool and 23% polyamide, and has a lovely brushed, fluffy finish. It is one of my very favourite yarns. If you want a touch of luxury then this is the yarn for you.  

I actually cast this on months ago, was distracted by something else, and before you know it it has been abandoned in a bag by the side of the sofa. I picked the bag up when I needed some brainless knitting, I only had the armhole shaping to do - or so I thought. I soon realised I had knitted most of the front on the wrong size needles. I frogged it all back and started again - what a numpty!

I am now up to the shoulder shaping so hopefully it will be a #FinishedForFriday soon!

Microwaves Tee In Lang Yarns Cloud  

When Steve and I were at H&H in Germany in March we both fell in love with Lang Yarns Cloud. A soft, light, striped yarn in incredible shades that make the simplest pattern look amazing. The yarn came in a few weeks ago and I had to use it straight away. I am using shade 32.

I found the perfect FREE pattern on Ravelry ‘The Microwaves Tee’ by Manon Lefeuvres - it is a match made in heaven. Super simple and not hugely yarn hungry, I can make a size large using just three balls. It should be a super speedy knit - unless something else comes along! 

Grace Aran Simple ‘Sophieesque’ Scarf

My final project at the moment is a scarf (pattern 10176)using one strand of Stylecraft Grace Aran and one strand of Rico Make it Flockchen. I fancied something easy and comforting that I could just pick up and knit without too much concentration and a simple neck scarf always answers this brief.

Grace Aran is a stunning aran weight yarn, giving you that haze look without an expensive price tag. Add a strand of Flockchen to it and wow, - it looks amazing. It’s the perfect neck warmer for the chillier days that are on their way!

So that’s my current knitting basket – a bit of alpaca, an accessory,  gorgeous colour and, as usual, rather more projects than I have time for! What have you got on your needles at the moment?
