January Finishathon! - Sara's project update

As always I am going to be completely honest here and confess that my January finishathon didn't go according to plan. The stress of the last six months, which culminated in my house move, took hold and I didn't pick up my needles as much as I usually would. However it was not a complete disaster, I did finish a few things (I also started something new - eek!).

Highoak Hats - Mode at Rowan

Both of these hats were knitted at New Year and I just needed to sew them up and attach  the pom pons. I knitted them both in Mode Chunky Wool. It took a lot of nagging from Madeleine for me to do this and then embarrassingly it took just 45 minutes to finish them both.

The Highoak hat is such a simple pattern however I managed to knit one in stocking stitch and then I attached the wrong colour pom pom. Isn’t it funny that often the simplest patterns are the most troublesome!

Uma Shawl - PetiteKnit

I knitted this on-trend neckerchief (Uma shawl by Petiteknit) in Cygnet Truly Wool Rich 4ply, which is great 4ply yarn at an incredible price, in navy with a pink trim. Now that I've finished it I do love it and I know I will wear it a lot, but it was a bit of a chore to make. It’s incredibly repetitive so a great TV knit but not sure I’d make another one.

Grace Aran Striped Sweater - Stylecraft

I started this last summer whilst living at my Mum & Dad’s however only knitted about ten centimetres and then put it away. I found it in the garage (??) a couple of weeks ago and have picked it up again and don’t want to put it down. It has taken about six days to finish the back and knit the front.

Grace Aran is such a beautiful yarn, soft and super easy on the hand, plus the colour palette is incredible. Hopefully I will finish it soon and it will be a great sweater for the spring!

Betwixtmas 2025

This was one I was definitely going to finish but, alas, I have only managed about 15 rows. I love the pattern and West Yorkshire Spinners Fable Aran yarn. I just think it is a bit much for me at the moment. I need super simple knits and need to work on this when I have a bit more brain space!

Weekend Sweater - PetiteKnit

This is my new cast-on the Weekend sweater by Petiteknit. I have only worked about twenty rows. I’m using a blend of Rowan Pure Wool Worsted and Rowan Kidsilk Haze and it is stunning. I love it so much but can’t stop knitting the Grace Aran!
