Hats, hats and more hats! Knit and crochet hats to make

Hats, hats, hats....well it is the season after all. Cold February days call for a different hat for every day of the week and we have you covered, well almost. We've got 6 knitted / crocheted hats to share. That leaves you with one more day of the week to find your favourite hat pattern and pick out some new yarn.

This blog post has been inspired by Black Sheep staff. It just so happened that quite a few of us were making hats all at the same time, great minds hey. A perfect new year make, when you might not fancy casting on something for winter and still haven't decided on a spring project. It seemed like a good idea to bring them altogether in one place and share with everyone.

Lucy has knitted not one, but two fair isle hats in Scheepjes Namaste. She spotted New Leaf Designs Finn hat pattern on Ravelry. The perfect pattern for the 30 shades of Namaste. Lucy had soon knitted two hats in this chunky yarn, choosing to switch her colours around to make the most out of the three balls of yarn. Knitted in the round it is fun way to sample fair isle knitting.

Hat knitting

I recently knitted the Snuggle Beret in Rowan Kidsilk Haze and Rowan Alpaca Soft DK. Although the original pattern was for a double knitting weight yarn, adding the extra strand of Kidsilk Haze didn't make too much difference. Apart from creating the most sumptuous fabric when knitted. It's a lovely pattern to follow and a good way to practice your continental knitting skills.

Tracey has knitted the cable and bobble hat by Juliet Bernard in Rowan Baby Merino Silk DK. This is the second hat Tracey has knitted following the same pattern. Tracey said she did the first one as a test to try out the pattern and enjoyed it so much that she made this beauty. It knitted up really quickly and she added a Rico Pompom to finish it off.

Miriam crocheted the Scheepjes Hyperbolic Puff Beanie in Scheepjes Metropolis yarn. That bobble really is something special! The way it is crocheted creates this wavy effect that scrunches to a pompom. There are so many beautiful shades of Metropolis you may struggle to choose just one and end up making multiple hats.

Carmen has knitted a hat for display in the shop, it's Yarn the After Party Kindling Hat in Scheepjes Metropolis. This yarn knits up beautifully soft and will be a treat to wear.

Barbara has knitted the Ivydene hat by Woolly Wormhead in Fyberspates Vivacious DK. The shade is Plump Imps. The way this yarn is hand dyed means there are lots of colours within this one hank of Vivacious yarn. It is once again knitted in the round, but this time testing your lace knitting skills.
