Knitting, along with many other more traditional handicrafts, is seeing something of a return to popularity at the moment. There are many reasons for this, from the need to get working with the hands to simply saving a bit of cash. No matter the reason for taking up knitting though, there is no doubting how much fun it is. Working with free knitting patterns is especially enjoyable.
Today, there are a good number of very high quality free knitting patterns open to all, whether knitting for girls and boys, women, men or even the home. There are also some excellent free patterns for clothing accessories too, allowing full outfits to be designed for just the price of the wool and needles.
Working through free designs is a great way for newbies to get started with the wonderful world of knitting. With mistakes part of the learning curve, it is good to practice skills on solid and basic designs with cheaper wools. For the more experienced too, though, they can be great fun in other ways and even introduce new ideas which can be worked into other projects.
All wools can be used with them too, whether using the most basic for practice, or many of the top brands' best wools. There are designs that work with chunky wools from Sirdar, for example, or a fine silk twist from Rowan.
Whatever design is chosen and whichever type of wool is used, there is little doubt that free knitting patterns are a great idea. Here at Black Sheep Wools, we know this only too well.
