Workshop Details
Professional Finishing Workshop with tutor, Debbie Abrahams.
Saturday 7th October 2023 | 10am - 4pm
During this workshop we will discuss and practice various techniques to help improve your knitting and finishing skills. Included in the itinerary will be:
• Methods of casting on: Thumb Cable Tubular
• The importance of tension and how it affects measurements
• Methods of decreasing and increasing (fully fashioning)
• Calculating the number of stitches to pick up along an edge
• Picking up stitches along vertical and horizontal edges
• Mattress stitch for vertical seams
• Shaping shoulders using Japanese short-row-shaping
A little homework is required in preparation for the workshop. Please knit two identical pieces of fabric as follows: Cast on 30 sts using 4.00mm needles and a double-knitting weight yarn, and work 40 rows in stocking stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row), beginning with a knit row. Cut yarn and leave stitches on a holders.
You will need to bring - knitting needles: 3.25mm, 4.00mm and one 4.50mm needle, scissors, sewing up needle (blunt-ended), sewing needle (sharp-pointed), tape measure or ruler, three stitch markers (clip ones that you can open up like a safety pin).
Skill level: This workshop is suitable for beginners & next step knitters
