Tapestry Crochet Fingerless Gloves Afternoon Workshop with Claire Montgomerie
Friday 31st March 2023 | 1.30pm - 4.30pm
An introduction to the Tapestry Crochet colourwork technique, the form of crochet colourwork that most resembles a knitted Fair Isle, which allows you to work more than one colour across a row at once to create patterning. The practice differs from knitted Fair Isle in that it doesn’t have any floats along the back of the work - when not in use, the other threads are simply held inside the fabric. Most often worked in double crochet, this class will cover the basics of creating a simple pattern in double crochet in the round, utilising Waistcoat Stitch to create a knit-look fabric.
This is a half day workshop where the techniques are shown and practiced, then the gloves are begun, to be finished at home.
You will need to bring 4mm and 4.5mm hook, stitch markers, scissors and a darning needle.
Skill level: Improver, participants must at least know the basic stitches, UK double crochet, half treble and treble crochet and how to follow a basic pattern using these.
There are 10 places on this workshop.
