Spirit of Flora - Crochet Mandala Workshop with tutor, Jane Crowfoot

The Spirit of Flora Blanket is a Crochet Along project designed by Jane Crowfoot.
Following a CAL project is an incredibly popular way for home crafters to create projects in bite size pieces and this stunning design from Janie not only offers crochet fans the chance to work through one of her famous and groundbreaking designs, but it will also help build skills and techniques whilst creating a truly beautiful heirloom crochet piece using luxurious yarns.
Inspired by the work of the Arts and Crafts Movement ceramicist William De Morgan and written in Jane’s distinctive style, with step-by-step images and explanations along the way, this design includes 12 crochet flower motifs and a choice of edging designs. Jane has included an array of techniques, including textural layered pieces.
On this workshop participants will work through a crochet motif, which will include many of the techniques Jane used in her blanket. Participants will be shown how to read and understand one of Jane’s crochet patterns, how to join in new yarn shades, how to weave in yarn ends and how to work an array of crochet stitch techniques, including 3D layered crochet.
You will need to bring: a 3mm, 3.5mm and 4mm crochet hook and a notebook and pen/pencil. A small sewing kit including scissors, a knitter’s sewing needle, and a fine sewing needle and thread is also required.
Skill level: This is a full day workshop aimed at crocheters who have a good knowledge of stitches and techniques.
