Professional Finishing Knitting Two Workshop with tutor, Debbie Tomkies
Saturday 27th September 2025 | 10.15am - 4.15pm
If you have ever finished a project only to put It back in the cupboard whenever you’re thinking of wearing it because it just doesn’t feel ‘right’ you’re in the right place!
In part two of this popular workshop, Debbie will be showing you more ways to enhance your knits. Try different ways to cast on and off, grafting seams (no more lumpy toes!) and how to deal with those ‘oops’ moments. Debbie will be sharing some of her favourite techniques and your knits will be runway ready before you know it!
What you will learn:
- Alternative ways to cast on and cast off - when and why to use them.
- Grafting for smooth seams.
- Setting in sleeves.
- Painless ways to correct errors - picking up dropped stitches, taking back work and using duplicate stitch.
- Throughout the day Debbie will also be sharing more tips and techniques for making up garments to make every knit a project to be proud of.
Homework: Samples will need to be knitted for the class. Information will be sent on booking via pdf. These swatches can be knitted using any DK oddments.
You will need to bring your knitting essentials - A pair of 4mm knitting needles, a bodkin/knitters/tapestry needle for sewing up, stitch markers, stitch holder, scissors.
Debbie loves to teach and has been a knitter and designer for over 30 years. She has been the Knit Now resident expert for 10 years and is the author of 6 internationally published knitting books so you’ll be in good hands! Debbie’s sessions are fun and enjoyable. The pace is relaxed and there is plenty of time to ask questions and chat.
