Learn to Knit Intarsia PM Workshop with tutor, Claire Montgomerie
Friday 9th June 2023 | 1.30pm - 4.30pm
Knitted Intarsia is a form of colourwork that creates separate areas of colour within the knitted piece. It is different from Fair Isle as you can use as many colours as you like and it does not use the stranded technique to change colours, so you are only ever working with one strand of yarn.
This class is an introduction to the knitted Intarsia technique, you will receive a pattern for a beautifully bold and colourful cushion panel, which will be worked through in the class and completed at home. In the making of the panel you will receive tips and tricks for knitting in the Intarsia colourwork method and will learn how to follow a colourwork chart, to change colours without making holes, to make and use yarn bobbins and how to finish your ends neatly.
This is a half day workshop, where the techniques will be demonstrated and practised and then the cushion panel will be started, to be finished at home.
You will need to bring 4mm straight needles, scissors and darning needle.
Skill level: Improver, participants must at least know the basic stitches and can knit, purl, cast on and cast off proficiently to attend this class.
There are 10 places on this workshop.
